The visit by the Emperor and Empress of Japan was a very special occasion for everyone at Momiji. We were fortunate and honoured to have Their Majesties visit us during their Canadian tour. It was a special honour for me to escort Their Majesties through Momiji and to be part of this momentous occasion.
It was a privilege for our residents to meet Their Majesties Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko – a true highlight of their life. Watching Their Majesties make personal contact with so many residents was very touching. Especially for the Issei and older Nisei residents, it was a special honour and a forever lasting treasure.
I would like to extend a big thank you to all the Board members and staff for making it a special day for our residents. There were endless details in preparation for the visit that could not have been made without all the help from everyone. Thank you for making the event very special and memorable for our residents.
We shared a truly once-in-a-lifetime hour together.
